wonderment as a question

Richard James Allen

Don’t ask me why the morning begins the day and the night ends it.

Don’t ask me why the universe pulses with rhythms we call natural.

Sometimes it’s better not to phrase wonderment as a question,

since the questions can only double back on themselves

in a universe where space is curved.

Don’t try to lock down the mysteries

or you may find yourself locked up inside one of them.

Step freely in, like stepping into a waterfall.

Then you will find yourself neither outside nor inside,

underneath nor above, just

wet.  Gloriously

wet.
